IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE
THERE YOURSELF, don't let driving in France
put you off a trip to Maleon! For a start,
the journey shouldn't take you more than
3½ hours; it is just over 200 miles
from Calais to Maleon. We supply you with
a very comprehensive route plan from leaving
the ferry to Maleon's front gate.
If
you have never driven in France before,
driving on the 'wrong side' really isn't
that difficult and most people get used
to it in less than an hour.
Getting to Maleon
is quite easy; this is because after you
leave the ferry you are straight on to
a dual carriageway, which eventually becomes
a motorway. You stay on the same motorway
for almost the entire journey.
After the motorway,
you then have just 14 miles on a fairly
quiet main road. There are a couple of
small roundabouts, 1 set of traffic lights
and a total of 3 turns to make before
you arrive at the Maleon front gate.
These days, you
don't even have to put beam deflectors
on your headlights and so long as you
have hazard lights, you don't need to
carry a warning triangle.
Even the dreaded
'Green Card' is no longer a problem as
most insurance companies now include it
as part of your normal car insurance.
If yours doesn't, most companies will
extend your policy to cover driving in
France for less than £10.00.
Diesel prices in
France are very much cheaper than England
and petrol is a very similar price to
England. Almost all garages accept Visa
and MasterCard and you can use these cards
to pay the motorway tolls.
